Ok I just joined the PJV CI Club. You are putting out great content and I want to help ensure you continue to do so. I didn’t realize how much I missed your voice and laugh until I heard them again. Thanks for keep on keeping. Reeger
Hey PJ! Big fan and listener of the podcast. I received a super weird invitation to a WhatsApp group entitled, "Bitcoin Insider Group 72". I have no idea what it means and thought you'd be a great person to help out. I sent you a message on Twitter as well if you are interested in connecting!
I really enjoyed this series and I'm bummed to see it end, especially as this fad seems to coming to an end. I hope you can stick around for six months and document it's last gasp and the people who have been affected by it.
I said this back in July but every time there’s big news in the space I think “God I wish PJ was still documenting this space. It’s gotten so out of control and I wish someone was doing a documentary style telling of the crypto collapse as it is happening.
PJ, been listening to Bad Bets on your rec and it’s great! Anyways, you *got* to make a season three of Bad Bets about SBF and FTX. Hard to thing of story more made for you to tell. Extremely online, about Crypto and EA and literal islands and scams and very Bad Bets and ludicrous and hilarious and tragic and happening all on Twitter during Elon’s wild first month of ownership. I can already hear you laughing in bewilderment on the pod now. Anyways, hope you’re well and all your coins are safe!
Probably too late to feature in the series but thought you and your listeners might enjoy this story about a guy in my hometown who is bidding to dig up his local dump to retrieve a lost hard drive full of Bitcoin...
Interesting article. It motivated me to subscribe to your SS. What are your thoughts on blockchain developers who believe they're creating a decentralized world? In my opinion, I don't think they have a clue about what decentralization is or how to attain it. As someone who writes about crypto consistently, I'm wondering what you think. I have a SS called "Free World Theory." Anyway, enjoyed your article.
I'm sad to see this end: I could see another episode delving deeper right here:
Like every multi-level-marketing scheme since the beginning of time, there's a repeating pattern in humans, which now repeats with Crypto disciple-ism:
Conflate some revolutionary product/idea with one of any number of money transfer schemes (any classic scheme or volatile stock/crytpo-coin/security mechanism will do ). The disciples believe the money is *created* by the revolutionary idea because it feels revolutionary to have money falling from the sky.
The promise of deliverance from drudgery is the promise of every messianic figure in religious and secular texts (also since the beginning of time) thus, no surprise, It "feels right" for humans to be finally freed of the normal drudgery of soul-crushing job, financial.insecurity etc.
Hey Pj, I was going to shoot you an email but I cannot find it anymore. Is there any update regarding the current story you’re working on? I paused my sub before the September payment comes out because as thrilled as I am to support the work of one of my favourite storytellers and company -- two months worth of payments for a single story and not much else is pretty steep. Just looking for an update, and wondering whether I should unpause my sub before the episode drops.
Well. This stubborn refusal of yours to put out new episodes just means...I'll continue to support the podcast gladly, will continue to feel grateful that it exists, and will continue to wait with much excitement for what lies ahead.
for your next topic, you should cover backyard chicken farming; I heard there's a lot of cross-over.
Looking forward to more news on the upcoming project!

Dark web?
It’s like the old Mitch Hedberg joke: “I like the FedEx driver, cause he’s a drug dealer and he don’t even know it.”

Nate, do not take investment advice from these folks!
Thanks, PJ!

This podcast is outstanding work. I'm always very happy to hear your voice reporting on my drive!

So much fun to read PJ. You’re a great explainer. ❤️
Not sure if your still check this PJ, but just came across this, which may be interesting/relevant to Crypto Island:

Still hanging out for the last episodes of this podcast, which I suspect may just last forever in the wake of FTX.

Did you cancel the podcast because I finally started paying for it?
Either way, I'm going to keep paying. I won't be stopped.
Thanks Michael. I'm working on a very complicated story right now, which I am quite sure I spent your payment on. Thank you!

Haha thank you Michael. Still hammering away over here.
