Oh wow. I'm really psyched to hear a new project from you — I've missed your voice on my podcasts! — but my skepticism on absolutely anything cryptocurrency related is *strong.*
The whole area seems so toxic and destructive from top-to-bottom that (I feel like I'm in a minority of cranky increasingly-middle-aged killjoys here) I hate to give it even a little bit more credibility. Keen to listen, though; maybe you'll change my view on it.
It's a moody and sarcastic space, for sure, but there are also some great crypto communities that are really helpful, and crypto is the most exciting thing on the planet right now. Excited for this podcast

See, I am absolutely 180º on that; it's honestly hard to think of much else going on that depresses me as much as the world of cryptocurrency does, and we aren't exactly short on competitors.
I know that not everyone involved with cryptocurrency is ignorant about the impact or the problems — there are plenty of smart and otherwise good people who've got involved — so the dissonance blows my mind.
In my view, it might've been a cool idea in theory, but in practice I don't see it as actually solving any real problems for people, while it *is* creating a tonne of new ones, the climate impact being the worst from a global perspective.
I'm happy you have a new podcast! I know very little about crypto but am excited to learn. So far I've learned that "doge" as in coin is not the same as "dodge" as in ball. I feel smarter already.
i bought a bitcoin in 2013 for $450 and then i sold it weeks later when it went up to $500. i felt like i was a hacker steve jobs turns out i was more of a bernie madoff

I just heard about this from my daughter (who I turned on to RA years ago). She was Team Alex, I was Team PJ (though we really loved ALL the characters/producers/guests). I've been waiting for the return of PJ all year, and so happy that it's here. Did the subscription before even listening to the trailer -- I already knew it's going to be worthwhile.
Just finished the trailer -- already intrigued and enjoying the construction, humor and setup. Feels like classic PJ! Thank you for returning your talents to the storytelling universe! I hope you are well and emerged mostly unscathed with all the sh*t of the last year or two -- and if not, we're still here for you!
ConstitutionDAO - a perfect podcast. Possibly my favourite episode of a podcast in the last 18 months or more. The story was informative, interesting and beautifully delivered. Thank you for putting the effort in and doing this ... I cannot wait for more. (Going off to share with everyone I know.)
This is awesome, and it's so good to hear from you again! The whole crypto culture has been the most puzzling tech phenomenon that I can remember - I've never got how a system for transactions produced so much genuine excitement and world-changing optimism. I think your way of bringing out the stories of the humans behind it all is going to be perfect for this topic.

I loved the trailer by the way, PJ. Had the exactly right length. I hate trailers that are too short and don't tell you anything. This one wasn't a full episode but got you excited for more in the right amount :)

You, my man, can craft a story…and even if I don’t agree with you on certain aspects of a story, I love being on the journey with you and you always give things a fair shake. Having your laugh echo in my car on 1 hour drives is what I have been missing. Looking forward to binging the rest of the season this week and all the good things to come.
