I got one that is so very heavy on my mind.

Why do divorce cases take so effing long once they hit the courts?

Thanks man. I have other questions, lighter questions. I'll get back to you on those once my mind clears.

Hi, I don't know if this thread still gets read, but question: Are mascots having a moment? And if so, why?

I know it sounds silly cause every high school and most major sporting teams have a mascot- and they're seemingly 'big in japan' (seen on the mondo mascots twitter account)-but I feel like I'm seeing them more and more in advertising (duolingo, the recent return of the fruit of the loom people). In a time where there's so much hype around AI and things like Vtubers/ Little Miquela type models, why are some companies turning back to tangible, cloth mascots?

No idea if this has broad appeal, but how harmful is third-hand cigarette smoke (THS), the stuff that makes cars and walls smell like cigarettes DECADES later? If you're smelling smoke, presumably you're also inhaling smoke particles of some kind. Does THS become less dangerous over time, or is it dangerous as long as you can smell it?

Finally, is there any way to neutralize THS, or will a material infused with THS always have THS?

Awesome! Happy to provide context if that would be helpful.

Really happy to hear housing is on a lot of people’s minds. IMO it doesn’t get enough coverage for how important of an issue it is. There are a lot more qualified people than me, but I’m a master of urban planning candidate at nyu with a focus on housing and Id be happy to chat, if for no other reason than to point you in the direction of some research/ers or advocates who are really smart on the issue! Regardless, looking forward to the show!

Hello PJ. I've got a big one. Why have so many people lost faith in experts and expertise? A lot of people (some in my family even) are more comfortable relying on a random YouTuber for information rather than someone who actually knows what they are talking about. To me, this is one of the scariest trends right now. Thanks. I'm very happy to have you back in my ears.

I recently learned about New Hive, a now defunct art platform, because my partner put their Div 3 (Hampshire College final project thingy) on there (and nowhere else womp), and the site folded. In some ways, this search started as an attempt to be the tech hero and find my partner's work so they can get out of a writing slump, but then it turned into a rabbit hole of being like....wait. A lot of work was on there though...

Things that spice this up: If you go to the site now, there's a very sus link that says they are archiving the site etc, but I'm 99% sure the link is phishing. And wayback machine, and all the caching sites like it, don't have records of individual blogs, just random screenshots of the homepage.

I'm not really finding ANY press covering this, and it seems like New Hive had a real thing going in the arts and blogging space.

I DM'd these folks: Zach Verdin, Cara Bucciferro, Abram Clark, and Andrew Ross Sorkin (the founders) on linkedin asking about plans to archive and whether or not they know a phishing link is now up at the old domain, but no cigar. I work in tech so I crossed my fingers my little LI presence would be good for something. I just really want to know - Are there any real plans to bring back the archived content, or is there another way to get to it? Should we throw in the towel, or is there still a chance their work is hanging out on some server?

Bigger picture, My question is...where did all the art go? And like...does this happen a lot with content hosting platforms? what do people do (emotionally) when they realize all their stuff is gone because...technology?

Why do people leave bags of presumably dog poo alongside trails? Is it laziness, rudeness, a form of protest, or what?
