This episode reminded me of the HBO documentary Tickled made by David Farrier, so I rewatched it for the first time in like 8 years. (TL;DR he tracks down the origins of these weird competitive tickling videos he’s found.) I barely remembered anything about it so it felt crazy coincidental when, about 3/4 of the way in, they zoom in on a “tickling recruiter” whose main recruiting spot was the local MMA scene. They mention that MMA is particularly interesting to the people making these videos because tickling isn’t against the rules. So it was even more connected than I originally thought. I wonder where the whole professional tickling situation is at now…
